The BC Men went through their tournament unbeaten. They downed Manitoba 86-44. It was a game which was never in doubt. BC was up 21-10 at the first break and led 43-20 at half time capitalizing on 12 Manitoba turnovers in the opening two quarters.
“This is my first games and I was expecting a battle, “said BC head coach Brian Meier (Richmond, BC). “ Every team we played gave us a tougher effort than what the score was reflected of. Since day one with these guys, I preached team. In the game today, some players had more points than others. But those other guys worked hard to feed them the ball."
BC was led by tournament MVP Borajev Martin (Burnaby, BC) has 26 points, 15 in the first half. Nate Haglund (North Vancouver, BC) had 16 points and 11 rebounds while All-Star tournament Djordje Obradovic (Burnaby, BC) chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
For Manitoba Team: Kyle de Sylva (Winnipeg, MB) led the way with 10 points. They turned the ball over 22 times compared to 15 BC.

Kamloops native Joe Davis had four points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of talk time. "We pushed the ball and went the way we wanted to go," he said about the game. “ I hope I have more moments like this in my career.”
The BC women emerged from their underdog role as they upset previously unbeaten Manitoba 61-60 to win the gold medal. BC led 23-9 after the first quarter but had that lead whittled down to four by half time when they led 29-25.
“We certainly learned how to play under pressure in this tournament,” said BC Coach Morgan McLaughlin (West Vancouver, BC). “Unfortunately we put us there. This game could have gone either way. Both teams played really hard. Hopefully they (BC Players) can take good things away from this tournament and put it in their memory banks and learn how to manage the clock a little better.”
McLaughlin blamed the second quarter half on Manitoba being allowed to play their game of anticipating passes. “They are so athletic and they are so good at knowing where the ball is going to be. We fed their fire and they came back.”
“BC really gave us a break,” said Manitoba coach Michael Tan (Winnipeg, MB) “ We didn’t really show up until the last minute and a half of the first half. They wanted redemption. We are a young team and we will return. "BC has had to weather a storm down the stretch of Manitoba, where in a hurry. Toba team" Carina Sosnowski (before, Winnipeg, MB) hit a jumper on the left side of the 50.3 seconds left basketwith to reduce the deficit to one.
