last weeks news... ( sorry a little behind...)

At noon we met up with all of the missionaries at the Golf Clube de Beira clubhouse. We were served a buffet meal of grilled chicken, boiled shrimp in the shell, rice, fried potatoes, lettuce salad and fruits. It was a pretty good meal. The occasion was a farewell party for the elders who were transferred out of Beira this week. Mom and I played Phase 10 with some of the missionaries. This was their P-Day. A few of the elders decided to play a round of golf. I would have joined them, but I knew I wouldn't have time to finish the round. The elders decked out in some interesting golfing attire. They went upstairs in the clubhouse and selected two or three dilapidated golf bags with an assortment of mismatched clubs, which they shared as they set out around the ten-hole course. I learned later they ran out of golf balls after two holes, so their day of golfing ended after a couple of hours. They got upset with a guy at the golf course who was charging them outlandish amounts (over $3 each) for the lost golf balls. The clubs, balls and bags were all rented. In between the above happenings, mom washed clothes and I sent out some church documents. We made a stop at the Shoprite store and bought 21 half-litre boxes of skim milk that appeared on the shelves today. We were down to our last box of skim milk this morning . By the end of the day, the skim milk at the store was gone. The milk was overpriced at 29 meticais, which comes to over a dollar for slightly more than a pint of milk. Without skim milk, we would have trouble consuming our daily bowls of crunchy granola cereal. Terça-feira (Tuesday) Mom had a good chat on Skype early Tuesday morning with Karen and Michelle, who were at the end of Karen's baby shower. We made three trips to a locksmith to get keys made for a missionary house. I bought electric credits for one of the missionary houses. I tried to resolve a paperwork situation at the water company. The guy I needed to see was busy helping a bunch of other people. When we came back later in the afternoon, the place was closed. We picked up boxes of supplies at the bus station and delivered a few of them. We went to a copy shop and made copies of English class handouts. We went in several stores looking for items needed in our house and in elders' houses. We bought a spiffy new toilet seat for our bathroom.
